Privacy Policy

1Information we collect

• Account details — your name, email or username, organisation, and role. Accounts are created for you by your organisation's administrator; there is no public sign-up.
• Precise location (GPS) — captured only while you actively acquire a fix on the app's GPS screen, and saved with the geological record you are creating. It may also be written into the metadata of photos you take.
• Photos — images of outcrops, samples and workings that you capture with the camera, which may include location metadata.
• Field records — the geological observations, measurements and notes you enter.
• Technical data — basic device and log information (such as app version and sync status) needed to sync your data and diagnose problems.

We do not use advertising identifiers, and the app contains no third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

2How we use it

We use this data only to provide the service: to record field geology and tie each observation to its location, to sync your work to your organisation's GeoForge account for review, to authenticate you, and to support and improve the app. We never use your location for advertising or profiling.

3App permissions

• Location — used only in the foreground, while you are acquiring a GPS fix. The app never accesses your location in the background.
• Camera — used only when you take a photo for a record.

You can decline or later revoke either permission in your device settings; the related feature simply stops working until you grant it.

4How we share it

Your data stays within your organisation's isolated tenant and is visible to authorised people in that organisation. We share it only with:

• Infrastructure providers — we host GeoForge on Google Cloud Platform, which stores and processes data on our instructions.
• Legal requirements — where we are required to by law.

We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.

5How we protect it

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and login credentials are stored encrypted on your device. Each organisation's data is isolated from every other tenant, and access is limited by role.

6How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account and your organisation's account remain active, and then delete or return it as agreed with your organisation, unless we must retain it to meet a legal obligation.

7Your rights & deleting your data

You can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to delete your account and its associated data. The quickest route is your organisation's GeoForge administrator; you can also contact us directly (see below) and we will action or forward your request.

8Children

GeoForge is a professional tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

9Changes

We may update this policy as the service evolves. We will revise the date above when we do, and material changes will be communicated to your organisation.
